NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
