Double-hand Poker is a current game with old origins. Based on the ancient Chinese tile game and the modern American variation of poker, Pai Gow poker marries the east with the west in an excellent game for starting players.
Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the gambler against the dealer, not like nearly all other poker games that players compete against other gamblers. By gambling against the dealer, new players don’t have to worry about any other, more knowledgeable people winning their money.
Another Pai Gow advantage is the fairly slow game play, novices are able to take their time and strategize while not having to make quick decisions.
It is also easier to enjoy for a long time with just a small amount of cash after all, to not win, both of your hands has to be lower than each of the houses hands.
Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card common deck and one joker. The player is assigned seven cards face up and the casino is dealt 7 cards faces hidden.
A 5 card hand and one two card hand need to be put together from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand has to be higher than the two card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be higher than the houses.
