NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
