No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
