Poker is a beloved game that has a following of millions and millions of ardent fanatics around the globe. The game is comprised of players evaluating their personal cards in advance of making a wild guess as to what cards the competing gamblers have. The different versions of poker games are Texas Holdem, Seven Card Stud, Omaha Poker, the Hi/Lo version, Five Card Stud, and Five Card Draw. The phrase ‘aces up’ refers to a pair of aces and an additional pair. ‘Active player’ usually alludes to a gambler who is still completely involved in a hand. ‘All blue and all Pink’ refers to a gambler holds a set of five cards that are all spades, diamonds, hearts, or clubs. ‘Blank card’ refers to a card that has little importance in the hand. The term, ‘deal’ refers to the act of distributing cards to gamblers or keeping the cards on the boards. It applies to the entire activity from mixing the cards to dealing of the cards and up to when the money has been won, thus ending that deal.

Other common terms employed in the game of poker are discard, drawing dead, flop, Fourth Street, kicker, lock up, loose game, and muck. It is important to reference an accurate list of poker phrases while attempting to learn the game. There are poker sites that are specifically dedicated to offering data about routinely used poker terms.
