Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
