No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
