No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he liked playing different card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After graduating from secondary school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York City to play some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were tough as he played extensive hours and fail to win a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by being an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he could better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He made an effort to acquire more rest and focus attention even more on poker.

The real improvement in his abilities happened when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often play against each other. He was able to access some of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking abilities. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL Texas Holdem.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to head out to Sin City and play in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the greatest female players the poker world has ever seen. Howard Lederer headed to Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to compete in more tournaments.
