No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
